As previously reported, the delegation of Uzbekistan led by the Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Tanzila Narbayeva is in New York to participate in the 68th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women.As part of the visit, T. Narbaeva held a meeting with the President of the Swiss Confederation Viola Amerd.Issues of consistent expansion of cooperation between Uzbekistan and Switzerland were discussed, including the development of political dialogue, the implementation of joint projects in the trade, economic, investment and technological spheres.Currently, 19 joint projects are being implemented with Switzerland in such areas as automotive manufacturing, textile production, pharmaceuticals, food industry, livestock farming, and infrastructure development. During the meeting, it was noted that both states have great potential and ample opportunities to increase this indicator significantly.

Taking into account the importance of interparliamentary relations, the prospects for cooperation in this direction were also considered. In particular, an exchange of views took place on the intensification of relations at the level of specialized committees and the creation of friendship groups in the parliaments of the two countries.Also during the meeting, practical proposals were put forward to develop cooperation in a number of areas. In particular, the importance of developing cooperation in the field of gender equality and sharing experience in this direction was noted.
