On October 17 of this year, the first meeting in 2023 of members of the “Dialogue of Women Leaders of Uzbekistan” platform was held in the Senate of the Oliy Majlis.The meeting was organized within the framework of the project of the Senate and the UN Development Program “Implementation of the national gender strategy and achievement of gender equality in Uzbekistan.”The meeting was attended by members of the Senate Committee on Women and Gender Equality, the UN Development Program, the Women Leaders Dialogue Platform, as well as representatives of ministries and departments.

It was noted that the platform of the Dialogue of Women Leaders of Uzbekistan serves to increase the rights and opportunities of women, further expand the ranks of women leaders, develop their leadership qualities, as well as prepare young girls for leadership work, and eliminate problems of gender equality.The platform’s activities identify in each region the main problems of women in the fields of entrepreneurship, science, information technology, media, sports and culture, support women leaders with disabilities, and help put an end to gender stereotypes and inappropriate social norms that cause gender inequality.

Participants were informed about the operation of the platform and its effective use, as well as its further improvement. A presentation of the platform took place.

During the event, Acting UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Anas Fayyad Karman said that UNDP is ready to provide practical assistance in increasing the potential of women leaders, in particular, in strengthening gender principles in political parties, increasing the political activity of women, as well as improving public speaking skills women leaders and communication skills with the population.

During the event, an exchange of views took place on the issues of supporting women in putting forward new approaches, ideas and initiatives, ensuring their active participation in the implementation of reforms in the country, in renewal, political processes, as well as the role of the platform of the “Dialogue of Women Leaders of Uzbekistan” in these processes.
