Members of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, within the framework of the Women’s Dialogue of Central Asian Countries, took part in an international conference on the topic “Women, Peace and Security”, held in Almaty, Republic of Kazakhstan.

During the events, held in the form of plenary sessions, participants focused on ensuring the safety of women in armed conflicts and humanitarian disasters, and protecting them from gender-based violence.

In this regard, a member of the Senate Committee of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan on women and gender equality, Senator Gulnora Marufova, in her report, especially noted that, first of all, in our country, on the initiative of President Sh. Mirziyoyev, all conditions are being created to protect women from various oppressions, living and being active in society on equal rights, changes are made to legislative norms and they are adapted to international standards.

A number of proposals were also put forward to achieve the set goals and implement the obligations assumed by the countries of Central Asia.

The conference noted that comprehensive dialogue and regional cooperation are the best way to develop long-term solutions to existing conflicts, centuries-old friendship, good neighborliness, cultural community and the spirit of goodness are the best way to ensure stable peace and security in the region in accordance with the UN Charter.
