Data on number of postgraduates by field of science and sex, postgraduate entrants and graduates by sex; number of doctorants by sex; the gender distribution of research specialists carrying out scientific research, design and technological work by the sectors of science and specialties; the number of heads of educational institutions by sex, the number of teachers of educational institutions by sex and type of educational institution are presented.

Preschool education in Uzbekistan is aimed at forming a healthy and developed personality of a child, his/her preparation for systematic education. Preschool education in the republic is carried out in state and private pre-school educational institutions. Preschool educational institutions irrespective of ownership form implement state general educational programs and standards of preschool education, provide care, supervision, health promotion, education and training of children at the age under 7 years.

9 year general secondary education. Grades of general secondary education: primary education (I-IV classes) and general secondary education (V-IX classes).

Primary education is aimed at forming fundamentals of literacy, knowledge and skills required for getting general secondary education. The first class is for children aged 6-7.

General secondary education provides the necessary amount of knowledge, develops skills of independent thinking, organizational skills, and practical experience, facilitates initial professional orientation and selection of the next stage of education.
Secondary special, vocational education. On the basis of general secondary education everyone has the right to choose the field of education in academic lyceum or vocational college.

Academic lyceums or vocational colleges provide secondary special, vocational education and are a basis to work in the acquired profession or to continue training on the next grade.

Academic lyceum is a three year secondary special educational institution, which provides intensive development of intellectual abilities, advanced differentiated and professionally-oriented training of students.

Vocational college is a three year secondary vocational educational institution providing in-depth development of professional skills and abilities of students, getting one or several specialties in the selected profession.

Higher education provides training of highly qualified specialists. The program of higher professional education is implemented in higher educational institutions - universities, academies, institutes and other educational institutions of higher school.

Higher education has two levels: Bachelor and Master Degree.

Bachelor Degree is a basic higher education with fundamental knowledge in one of the areas of higher education with duration of training not less than four years.

Master Degree is a higher education in a particular specialty with duration of training not less than two years on the basis of Bachelor Degree.

Postgraduate education is aimed at satisfying the needs of society in scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel of highest qualification.

Postgraduate education can be received in higher educational institutions and research institutions (doctorate course, doctoral studies).

Out-of-school education is aimed at meeting the individual needs of children and adolescents in the cultural-aesthetic, scientific and technical knowledge and sport activities, through organization of their leisure time.

Out-of-school education institutions include palaces, houses, clubs and centers for children and youth creativity, children and youth sports schools, schools of arts, music schools, studios, libraries, recreational and other institutions.

Students of general education institutions are persons studying in primary, incomplete secondary and secondary schools as well as students of special schools for children with intellectual or physical disabilities.
